There are few alpaca herd sires in the same league as MacGyver’s Balboa. He is co-owned by Park View All American Alpacas in Oregon and Victoria Lane Alpacas in Ohio. During the course of his show career Balboa racked up 16 Halter Championships-- 13 Color Championships and 3 Reserve Championships. And his fleece won a few awards too. At the MAPACA 2008 Fleece competition, Balboa’s fleece was awarded a First Place and Best Suri Locks. Then at the 2008 AOBA National Fleece Show, Balboa was aw... |

GLR Chaska, a full Peruvian, fourth generation silver grey gal, is sired by the famous Platinum Marquis. Her dam, GLL Macatawa, is the dam of a Futurity Color Champion. Chaska, herself is the proud winner of the MAPACA Jubilee first place ribbon and Color Championship! Chaska is a tall, elegant lady. with lovely silver locks. She is an excellent dam, and she has passed on that adorable "eyeliner" to her first cria, a dark silver grey (5th generation grey!) female. Her bloodlines also inc... |

Pilar is technically "indefinite dark" in color--regular distribution of white fibers on a black-based fleece. We think this will translate to silver grey genetics, because her dam is a MAPACA Light Silver Grey Champion and her sire is True Black multi-champion Balboa of PVA. But either way, she can produce outstanding dark crias, and she is an excellent mother.
She has a medium frame--sturdy but feminine, and really excellent luster and locking. And did we mention that she has the perfect head that is the signature of her sire...AND fuzzy ears!!
And Pilar has done well in the show ring, with 6 blue ribbons!
So, we have a confession to make--we think our dogs played a major role in introducing Pilar to Red Storm, and our dogs are the matchmakers who are responsible for her outstanding first cria, Chispa. (We have very smart dogs.) But we are hopeful that her pregnancy after one exposure indicates that she will continue to be an easy breeder. Fingers crossed!
PIlar is at our North San Francisco Bay area farm, Alpacas of Marin.
CONGRATULATIONS! To Leanne and Richard Nakashima of Eldora Alpacas, who have purchased Pilar and her male cria at the Amber Autumn auction!!
